Nick Nyhart of the national Public Campaign organization paid Seattle a visit during the Pacific Northwest's worst weather disaster in years.

He took it in stride, though, and received a warm welcome from the Washington State public campaigns contingent. Nick and Craig Salins, our Executive Director, spent several busy days meeting with local community leaders like Bill Gates Sr., who within hours sent his endorsement of public financing and the National Fair Elections Now Act.

(Right) Seattle-area supporters gathered over pizza to hear Nick describe growing bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate & Congress for public financing of these campaigns. A lively question-and-answer session followed.

Nick addressed complicated questions from Bill McQuaid,
above left, and Mark Early, above right, including:
Why did Prop 89 fail in California, and what lessons did we learn?

After we're all fired up, Craig says: "After we succeed, you
may never again be asked for campaign donations. Meanwhile,
we do need your support for our educational campaign."
