If the Pierce County Council or Tacoma City Council enacts a Voter-Owned Elections ordinance and places it on the ballot for voter approval or rejection, we need to be ready with a "Yes on Voter-Owned Elections" campaign. We are preparing for this by raising voter awareness of the issues, building a coalition of groups, fund raising for campaign expenses, and creating task teams for voter contact, public speaking, research, etc.

Ask them to enact a Voter-Owned Elections program for city council and mayoral races and to place it on the ballot at the next available opportunity for voter approval. Ask them to support public financing of city election campaigns for qualified candidates to eliminate the need for fund raising by candidates and to allow them to focus on issues and voters in the campaign, not on the race for dollars.
