Citizen lobby:
Call or write mayor and council members:
Email citycouncil@ci.olympia.wa.us
or call 360-753-8447
- Tell them you support public financing
of election campaigns.
- Ask them to enact a Voter-Owned Elections
program for city council and mayoral races and to place it on
the ballot at the next available opportunity for voter approval.
- Ask them to support public financing
of city election campaigns for qualified candidates to eliminate
the need for fund raising by candidates and to allow them to
focus on issues and voters in the campaign, not on the race
for dollars.
Host a house party / gathering of
neighbors, for conversation.
Invite your neighbors over for a casual conversation about undue
influence of money in politics and the solution offered by public
financing. Show our DVD about programs in Maine and Arizona. Invite
them to visit the website and to join our efforts to bring Voter-Owned
Elections to Olympia. The Thurston County Chapter of Washington
Public Campaigns can help you do this. Contact us at thurston@washclean.org
or 943-3070.

Olympia Voter-Owned Elections.
If the Olympia City Council enacts a Voter-Owned Elections ordinance
and places it on the ballot for voter approval or rejection, we
need to be ready with a "Yes on Voter-Owned Elections"
campaign. We need to prepare for this by raising voter awareness
of the issues, building a coalition of groups, fund raising for
campaign expenses, and creating task teams for voter contact,
public speaking, research, and more.
Contribute funds to this effort!
Donate by credit card on-line,
or send a check to:
Washington Public Campaigns, P.O. Box 70452, Seattle WA 98127-0452.
Invite
a WPC speaker to make a presentation to your group. Encourage
attendance from members of the group to hear about Voter-Owned
Elections, why we need it here, and what we're doing.
Spread the message - website / news / members
/ blogs
Arrange to post materials about Voter-Owned Elections on your
group's website, in organization's newsletters, among the members,
and in neighborhood newspapers and online blogs.
